Major delays in obtaining Grant of Probate… but there is always a silver lining!
A recent article by The Law Society Gazette highlighted the major delays currently faced by those applying for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration.
It is understood that the delays across Probate Registries have been caused by the introduction of a new case management system, coupled with an influx of applications from applicants aiming to avoid the forthcoming increase to probate fees.
The good news is, regardless of when the Grant of Probate is finally processed, the Probate Registries are accepting the date it is submitted as the application date.
As discussed in our previous blog post, “Probate Fee Hike: There’s Still Time!”, this is positive for people applying for probate as they will not be affected by the impending changes to the probate fee structure.
The change to the fee structure has been delayed for much longer than anticipated and is yet to be approved by the House of Commons.
